To build a new home suitable for a single parent and teenager that would also suit the downsizer family or the young upcoming family when it came time to sell.

Demolish the existing run down house and maximise the size of the land with by building a low-maintanence, family friendly and classic styled home that comprises of natural light and warm tones.

Both side boundary fences were not positioned on the title boundary and therefore an adverse possession claim needed to be made to re-establish the boundaries – in this instance – so that the existing fence lines could remain. This was done in collaboration with the adjoining neighbors and the boundaries were re-established.

Also, the single crossover needed to be increased to a double crossover for the driveway and council approval sought in a street where very few residents have off street parking. The street consisted of period homes so the challenge was to design a new home of a style sympathetic and complimentary to the existing streetscape both in respect of height, color and materials reflected.

A three bedroom modern single level home comprising 35 squares was built with the floor plan emphasing separate living zones and entertaining area both indoor and outdoor.
